It was about 80 degrees outside yesterday! Whereas I heard it was snowing in places like Oklahoma and Korea, D.C. was gorgeous. We went to Georgetown for the afternoon, walking Aspen, and just...enjoying the good weather. Took Aspen to Theodore Roosevelt Island, which is this 91-acre wilderness preserve on the Potomac river. Ever since Africa, I've been in a habit of walking long distances in flip flops. They are just more comfortable in warm weather, in my opinion. But, sadly to say, I think I may have pulled a muscle walking my dog, haha. So embarrassing; it ended up hurting my dance practice later that night. I blame my flip flops.
The nicer the weather, the longer the line outside Georgetown Cupcake. This line is probably a 30 minute wait. Is a $3.00 cupcake really worth it? Actually, I think so. ;-) So good!
CIRCLES
Later that night, I went with Mario and LaCuna to dance practice at Lifetime Fitness in Centerville. It's a 24-hour gym, and has a nice big dance studio. I practiced for 4 hours, felt really good. Mario & LaCuna were practicing for the Bonnie & Clyde battle at Circles Jam next weekend.
Circles is going to be a huge event! I was originally going to do some videowork there with Peter & Goofball, but then, out of nowhere, my film school friends mentioned they wanted to come and now I got a film crew of 5 people. Ian was telling me they wanted to bring boom mics (overhead mics), portable mixers, multiple HD cams, and maybe even professional lighting equipment. Strife's presence at the event will be off-the-chain! It will be three cameramen, a sound guy, photographer, and our hosts. Many of my film friends had never been to a b-boy jam, so they were really interested in experiencing one for the first time.
I have yet to think of a theme for that event, but hopefully will come upon something soon. After all the "serious" videos I did in New York 2 weeks ago, I am in a crazy mood and want to do something more fun at Circles. My friends from Supernaturalz will be coming from Toronto, and they are always up for something on camera. Can't wait!
STRIFE.TV
For people that have been visiting the Strife youtube page these few days, you would have noticed a generous amount of 2009 R-16 footage. I was going through my external hardrive, and noticed I had so much footage from R-16 last year that I did not upload. I did not upload because of two reasons: 1) R-16 was a busy time for me. 2) I thought there was going to be a R-16 2009 DVD to be released.
With the 2010 qualifiers recently finished, and the finals coming up in July, I don't think a DVD would be happening anytime soon, so...why not upload my footage? It gives the dancers more publicity, the event more media coverage, and for our Strife viewers, something to watch this lazy weekend. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else from Korea upload these battles, since it was an open door free event.
7Commandoz interview to be finished tonight.
